This photo of the Pancake Rocks ended up being my all time favoriteĀ of all the photos I took in New Zealand. The sweet part about it was that I was sure it was going to be a loser. The conditions that morning were really foggy and drab as we were driving up here. Once we arrived, the sun broke through, but then the lighting was really harsh and everything seemed to have its color washed out. That’s what came out of the camera, which is not even close to what we actually see. I’m so amazed by the difference from what we see to what a camera can capture. Our vision is an amazing gift. Back to this photo, since it was pretty difficult conditions for the camera to capture the range of light and color, the first photos I saw were pretty disappointing.
But after a little editing magic…woohoo! There are times I am a “glass is half empty” type of person. Sweet surprises like this lead me to have hope in the unexpected joys, even if it’s just a picture!
