Judah just got a fourwheeler. He was given the opportunity to work for a family member in exchange for the fourwheeler. It’s a dream come true for him.
Even though the weather has been beautiful, the girls have been creating with Legos.
Fall weather brings the hazelnuts down and the kids play a part in the harvest. After we pick up all the nuts we can with the harvester, the kids go through the rest of the orchard and pick up what’s left behind. They are pretty eager, since we pay them market price.
Zoe loves hazelnut harvest too. The fence keeps her out of the orchard. But she’ll sit at the edge and bark at the kids so they’ll bring her nuts. Then Zoe methodically picks up a nut, cracks it with her teeth, spits it all out, and then eats just the hazelnut.
Hazlenut harvest is a good reason to bring out the fourwheeler. Almost anything is a great reason to bring it out, in Judah’s opinion.
I love how industrious the kids are when they pick up the nuts. They use the blower to get them all in a pile and then pick them up.
