It was my birthday yesterday. It was a strange one, because Craig was gone for over a week on an adventure of his own. Since he was gone, I had no special wishes for yesterday, but the kids felt like doing extra throughout the entire day. I was overwhelmed by their thoughts and deeds. A fancy breakfast, a clean car, multiple birthday cards, hugs, smiles, and birthday wishes all day long filled my heart. They are awesome. To end the day, I spontaneously asked them to do a simple photo, by setting the camera on the ground to take a group shot of us. Without changing clothes or brushing hair, we found a spot to catch some memories of who we are. Of course, without Craig, we are incomplete, but I’m excited to get the photos from his adventure, so we can have them side by side to remember what happened this year.
I never take one photo. There’s always more to the story than just one photo in our household. This first one is to show how things really happen around here.
Chaos always reigns here. I like how Jema’s feet are the only clue that she’s really there.
Wait, now there’s an extra! This is normal too. Our family includes so many more than just our own kids. Silas is totally welcome in our family photo.
The kids wanted to do duck lips. We did fish lips instead. So not cool, but I wanted funny, not cool.
That dog. I picked Zoe out of the litter because she seemed to have the most personality. I figured she would need it with seven other “siblings”. She definitely has it, always managing to shake things up a bit.
In summary, the family photography wasn’t the best thing about this birthday, but the people in the pictures are.
