I’ve updated my website!! Take a look and explore the different pages and you just might see someone you recognize, as well as updated information regarding packages and more descriptions of the various types of work I can do for you.
Beyond the new website, the most exciting news I’d like to share with you is that I’m offering a new Adventure Photography Session. An Adventure Session begins by you choosing a favorite activity, traveling there with your favorite people, and embarking on that adventure, while I tag along to take all the photos I can to document your exciting time. An example would be a hiking trip, a day at the beach, an afternoon of kayaking or paddleboarding, or __________ (your favorite activity in your favorite place). You’ll receive an unlimited amount of edited photos of the adventure on a flash drive and color 4×6 prints of each photo. The amount of photos will be determined by the length of the adventure. Check out this page to find out even more information!
Where did this idea come from? It all started with the website redesign, which prompted me to reflect on the parts of being a photographer that I really like. I love meeting and getting to know new people. Then, once I’ve made those new acquaintances and friends, I see them on a regular basis as they take family photos each year or so. It’s kind of like a family reunion, in the most fun of senses, as we meet to take photos and catch up about all has unfolded in their family. That’s something I look forward to. Another aspect I enjoy is to catch photos of my clients that show their personality and relationships with those they love. This can be done by simply spending time together interacting and playing while I catch photos of that happening. What makes a session the absolute best though, is when I take photos of people as they are doing something they love. I can’t believe it’s taken me this long to think of offering Adventure Sessions, since it all seems so clear now.
Now I’d like to share a little more in depth about just a few of the Adventure Session possibilities that could work for you. For example, our family really enjoys spending a day at the beach. I’m going to share a little secret. It’s something you all probably have known forever, but it took me years to figure out: the Oregon Coast is an amazing place….especially if it’s crummy in the valley. If it’s fall, a near perfect day is almost guaranteed. That’s just one of many times to plan a day with your family and friends (and pets!) to enjoy one of the most beautiful places around here. To make the memories stick, hire me as your adventure photographer. You’ll be thinking to yourself as you pack your stuff, “Beach chairs? Check. Sand Toys? Check. Dog leash? Check. Bonfire materials? Check. Towel to dry off the crazy one who jumps in the frigid, cold Pacific Ocean? Check. Camera? Nope!! That’s because I know Marci will get all the shots I’ll need. And I’ll even be in some of them!” These are some of the crazy-beautiful photos we can hope for on a sunny day at the beach.
Maybe hiking and camping are your thing. Next time you message your friends to find a day to hike into Jefferson Park or even to Mary’s Peak, let them know to bring some extra money along to pool together as a group to hire and bring me along as well. And if you haven’t heard of Jefferson Park, look it up! That’s the place that anyone who loves the outdoors should visit, especially with no pressure to pull the phone out to catch photos, since you’ll know that I’ll grab all that you want.
Water is awesome. When we go out for a day or longer, a source of water is our favorite destination. Are you a paddleboarder? Kayaker? Just get in the water and splasher? Obviously, around here, this is a summer thing to do. But water and cameras are not usually friends, so instead of worrying about ruining the camera, or fumbling with the water proofed phone that can’t quite get the photo that you want, these are some of my favorite photos to catch. So many fun effects can be caught when playing in water, from isolating all the droplets flying through the air, to catching the sparkle off the water, and especially the natural joy that you all show when doing your favorite activity.
Winter or summer, we live in a beautiful place. When we had little kids, I was more of a pansy about doing winter stuff AND taking my camera along. It was hard enough to keep everyone warm without figuring out how to lug a heavy and cold camera along to catch the fun. Now, for my own family, it’s much easier. Which has made me really appreciate the opportunity we have to enjoy the outdoors at all times of the year and remember the snow through the pictures.
Adventure doesn’t have to be in the middle of nowhere. With the right weather, the backyard BBQ can be just as beautiful and exciting as one of the activities described above. Each time we pull off a get together, by the time I’ve prepped the food, cleared out the big mess (our house is a whirlwind at all times!), and finally get the chance to enjoy eating, chatting, and playing with friends, the last thing I want to do is pull the camera out. I’ve worked too hard to miss the time with my friends, which is why I’d love to be able to sit in the background at your adventure or event and catch all the fun and people interacting!
Just because I didn’t list out your favorite adventure above doesn’t mean that it can’t be photographed! Call or email me today to book your adventure!
