We went to the beach at the Oregon Coast recently when it was 70 degrees in February. Those are the days that stop us in our tracks in regular life so that we take a few hours off to enjoy sun and life together.
I couldn’t figure out what they were doing at first, but realized it was elbow tag. Incidentally, our dog Zoe doesn’t get to come with us often, so she ended up being the star of the show since she was anywhere and everywhere we were, eager to be in the middle of it all.
Some of the crazies even dunked.
Again and again.
I gave this a lifestyle tag in the title, mainly because there was no way to direct a group this size, except to just follow and enjoy. So for this next one, I caught Lacey in a quiet moment. I’m not sure what Lacey is dreaming of right now, but this image ended up being one of my favorites of the day.
See what I mean about being in the middle of everything? The dog didn’t stop running the entire day, always checking with everyone to make sure she wasn’t missing something good.
The kids love the ocean and all, but their very favorite beaches end up having a stream entering nearby that they like to play in. Now I know what to look for when looking for new beaches to explore!
The majority of the day was spent here.
The puppy wanted to come too.
But it got pretty deep and she hasn’t yet mastered swimming. So she was helped.
These next two pictures make me happy. We only have one boy in the family, but he’s a constant source of stirring other people up, just for the fun of it. It’s pretty fun to see the dog do the same thing to the boys.
Zoe had to test out their ramp they carefully engineered and built. The kids weren’t so sure their creation could handle the dog stress, but it ended up being just fine.
It’s pretty fun to see how the kids and their friends enjoy being around each other so much and working on projects together.
Jo is a sucker for puppies. Kava is not ours, but Jo loves her anyways.
Kava was learning all sorts of new things at the beach that day. She’s learning how to perfect her digging technique here, even putting a literal spin on it, by turning as she went and spreading sand on everyone who surrounded her.
The day was finished with a little more tag.
