It’s one thing to figure out where to go, it’s another to actually get there. But even with the long drive on forest logging roads, it was worth the effort at this point in time, and we haven’t even made it on the trail yet!

Kentucky Falls was the destination. We had only seen one small photo, so we didn’t really know what to expect except that it would be about a 4 mile round trip hike. The weather was forecast to be dry, but it was still kind of cloudy out most of the time.
One common theme in these photos is our dog; she’s always on the move. I’m pretty sure she covered twice the ground we did.
This is making my mouth water thinking of the sour taste Heidi is gathering.
First falls only 1/2 mile down the trail. One bonus of walking in the winter is that it’s easier to see things through the trees, since the leaves have fallen.
Worth it.
This was our major surprise; seeing two falls!
Even though it was a dry day, the trees were dripping on us the entire walk, just from the dew on the trees. Once we spent some time at the falls though, even more water.
Back and forth.
Dualling photographers.
And group shot back at the first falls.
We had plenty of opportunity to admire the big trees along the way.
We couldn’t resist the opportunity to make the drive a loop trip, so we drove on to the coast after our hike.
Heceta Head is gorgeous. The lighting was super weird, cloudy and sunny all at the same time. Crashing waves entranced us.
